"Oh! Well... that's good then!" Kaoru said quickly and then laughed a little awkwardly. Rahmu had looked in her notebook, but he claimed that he hadn't seen any of her drawings so that was good... She would be far too embarrassed if the man knew she had drawn him! She must have closed the notebook or turned the page before she left. Thank God!
"Uhm, okay then. I live just across the street from the subway station so it shouldn't be too hard to find." She replied and absently scratched Scruff behind the ear. "I guess I will see you soon then. Um.. Bye bye." Biting her lip, she hung up and then put the phone down on the counter. Her heart was racing in her chest from excitement and nervousness. Rahmu was actually going to come here! To her apartment! And they were going to have dinner together!
Still quite giddy, not really believing what had just happened, she moved about the kitchen and prepared some food for Scruff which she later scooped into his bowl and put on the floor. The small nog immediately barked happily and dug in. Kaoru smiled faintly and ran a hand through her hair... "Oh no!" She exclaimed suddenly and ran into her bedroom and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked absolutely horrible! Her hair had been completely ruined when she ran and her clothing was disheveled. She could not look like this when Rahmu came over!

Rahmu carefully replaced the phone to the receiver, not at all surprised that she hadnt given him a chance to say goodbye in her excitement. He stared at it a moment, wondering softly to himself if he were doing the right thing. Was it perhaps too fast, maybe? He didnt want to come off as though he were hoping for something, because he wasnt....was he?
Shaking the worry from his mind, he walked back into his studio removing his apron and hanging it up on the peg by the door. He moved to pick up her notebook from the desk and the memo sheet he'd written her address on and left the room. He went downstairs and set the notebook and memo on the table by the door, and was about to pull on his coat and hat when he realized his clothes would need to be changed first. He couldnt go to her house for supper looking like a disheveled artist still.
Climbing on back upstairs, he went into the bedroom and proceeded to open his shirt once he'd unrolled the sleeves. He then walked over to the closet and shuffled through the garments hanging up until he decided on a burgundy dress shirt, light blue slacks and tie, with the angel wing cuff links. Once dressed, he studied himself in the mirror and noticed his hair was still tied back in the ponytail. He quickly took it out and brushed it down again before finally feeling satisfied with his reflection in the glass and making his way downstairs again.
After pulling on his dress boots, he decided to leave the cane and simply pulled on his long black coat before grabbing the notebook and memo and walking out the door. Making sure his house was locked behind him, he made his way to the station a few blocks down, humming a little as he went and wondering what the evening would have in store for him once he arrived at Kaoru's.

Kaoru ran around in her apartment in a slight panic, dropping of her shoes by the door, getting a new dress from her closet, fetching her hairbrush from underneath the couch... How it had ended up there she had no idea, but she had a slight suspicion that the cute little furball that sat on her bed had something to do with it...
Once she had everything she needed, she rushed back into her bedroom and proceeded to change her clothing. The dark blue dress was replaced by a frilly but elegant dream in off-white chiffon. It fell prettily over her poofy petticoat and had a very summery feel too it. When she was satisfied with the look of the dress, she slipped on a light green bolero with long sleeves and a pair offwhite socks with little green ivy leaves decorating the sides. It was a bit rushed for it to be just as lovely as she wanted it to be, but at least it was better than the disheveled look she had sported a while ago.
"What should I do with my hair..." She wondered out loud as she stood in front of her big mirror. The curls that she had worn earlier today were no where near as pretty as they once was. The ideal option would be to pick up the curling iron and redo everything... But Rahmu lived only a couple of stations away and there was no way Kaoru would be done in time. So she abandoned that idea. Instead, she picked up her hairbrush she started running it through the long locks, separating the hairs from eachother. Soon enough it all tumbled down her back in a voluminous mass. It was still wavy, but it looked a lot more natural than her curls. She smiled to herself. It actually looked rather pretty.
Now that she was done dressing, she moved back towards the kitchen, stopping only briefly in the livingroom to pick up a elegant little headbow. She slipped it onto her head and then continued into the small kitchen. Rahmu had yet to arrive so she figured she might as well make some tea. She need to keep herself busy otherwise she might get too nervous again.

It really didnt take long to get anywhere traveling by subway or train, and having long legs tended to cut average walking somewhat. As such, he arrived not fifteen minutes after leaving his house, and after checking to make sure it was the right house, he carefully rang the bell and stuffed the memo into his jacket. He hoped he wasnt overdressed, though he really didnt think his formal-casual suit would be considered that in Kaoru's eyes. In fact, compared to the way she dressed, perhaps he was under-dressed?
His palms felt a tad sweaty as he waited, nervous with a hint of pink to his cheeks as the reality of the situation struck him yet again. Was this the normal thing to be doing at this hour in the evening? It wasnt as late as most of the more unsavory activities tended to begin, but it was still the first time going to a woman's house at such a time. A single and obviously available woman at that. Suddenly he was pretty sure he hadnt been thinking properly when he suggested such a....rendezvous.

Kaoru stood in her kitchen, leaning against the counter and sipping her tea. She was desperately trying to calm down but to no avail. Rahmu would be coming over soon, in fact he could be here any minute! She was constantly expecting the doorbell to ring but it never did and every second that ticked by made the young woman more and more nervous. Her lower lip was caught between her teeth and she chewed it absently while shifting from one foot to the other. Shouldn't he be here by now? Maybe he decided not to come after all? Maybe he did not want to spend the evening with her? She knew she had been too pushy when they first met... She always got that way when she was nervous and now she had probably ruined any chance of ever getting to know Rahmu.
She sighed and her shoulder's slumped in defeat. And that's when the doorbell rang. Kaoru jumped and almost dropped her teacup in surprise. Her eyes widened. Could it really be him? Had he come to see her after all? Quickly she set down her cup on the counter and ran through her small apartment, half afraid that he would leave if she didn't get there fast enough. She skidded to a halt right by the door and she quickly unlocked and opened it. Her smile almost reached from ear to ear as her eyes fell on the man standing outside her door. "Rahmu-san!"

Rahmu nearly jumped when she suddenly opened the door and gave him such a bright greeting. It gave him such a warm feeling to see it that he smiled in his small yet polite way and tipped his head slightly. "I'm sorry if I took too long. I needed to freshen up a bit, I was a mess after working this afternoon." He adjusted her notebook he had slung under his arm and looked at the place next door before looking at her again. "Might I come in then, Kaoru-chan? I would hate for people to trouble you with unsettling questions about my visit."

Kaoru, still smiling just as brightly, nodded and stepped back so that Rahmu could come inside. She was just so happy to see that he had actually shown up. "Come on in!" She said eagerly but then blinked slightly. "Uhm... What kind of questions?" To her there was nothing weird about having people over. It was a perfectly natural thing. She did not have many friends but the ones she did have came to her apartment frequently. And she couldn't understand why her neighbours would question her about something like that.
As she waited for the man to come inside, she took the time to admire what he was wearing. He always looked so incredibly classy! And to think that he acted like a gentleman too! He was really not like any other man that Kaoru had ever met. "You look very handsome, Rahmu-san." She said before she could stop herself. Then flushed a pretty pink when she realized how incredibly forward that must have sounded.

Rahmu smiled a bit meekly and walked inside as she stepped aside, turning to face her as she shut the door. A hint of pink came to his cheeks when she complimented him and her averted his eyes as he said, "Ah...thank you. I'm glad it's not too much. I thought I might have over or under dressed." He looked at her at last once the heat had faded from his cheeks and smiled at her ensemble. "You look as cute as ever yourself, Kaoru-chan. Your style really suits you. It's quite unique."
He turned and started to take a soft look around, not sure exactly where to go yet and not wanting to rush anything. He smiled when he caught sight of the dog and moved to admire the wall decorations. "You have a lovely home, Kaoru-chan. It's very neat and has a homey feeling to it." He let out a small laugh and looked over at her, "Not like mine I expect. Mine is rather cluttered most places. I think it's more artistically fundamental than personal."

Kaoru blushed at the compliment and looked down at her dress, using her hands to smooth out imaginary wrinkles. But on the inside she was jumping up and down with happiness. She had never cared what people thought of her style before, but Rahmu's opinion was, for some readon, incredibly important to her. She really wanted him to like her. "Thank you." She said shyly. Then she felt something bump against her leg and she looked down and saw Scruff sitting at her feet, looking at her with those huge eyes of his. She giggled softly and bent down to pick the small dog up. "This is, by the way, the reason I had to leave so suddenly earlier today. Rahmu-san, meet Scruff!"
She moved a little further into the apartment, leading the way into the livingroom. "Oh thank you! Uhm, it's a bit messy at the moment, but I didn't have time to tidy up." Although her home was very nicely decorated, with antique furniture and lots of live flowers, it was overrun with fabric and patterns and scissors and measuring tapes. Since clothing design was her passion, it had quite easily invaded her livingspace, even though she had originally wanted to keep it neat and tidy. But at least the fabric was all folded nicely and the ribbons were contained in a big box that sat on her coffeetable. "But I liked your home too! It definitely suits you!"

Rahmu smiled as he followed along behind her as she led the way into her living room, his eyes wandering around to take in every detail of her home. At her compliment on his home, he let out a small laugh and said, "I suppose it does. My father helped me find it and secure the ownership in my name. He's the singular person whose had the most influence on me. I suppose...you could say I've grown to be somewhat a miniature version of him." He brought a hand thoughtfully to his lips as he smiled fondly in remembrance of his father, who wasnt present at the moment. "Minus the beard and gray hair, of course." He laughed, letting his hand fall to his side once more, not realizing that he still clutched her notebook beneath his arm.

Kaoru listened to everything the man was saying, a pretty little smile playing on her lips. Rahmu spoke so fondly of his father. "I am sure he is a great man." She said and then looked up at the man though her eyelashes, shifting a little nervously. "Especially if he is anything like you." She always felt so embarrassed when she tried to give someone else a compliment... Especially if she liked the person in question. And she definitely liked Rahmu so she was a little afraid of how he would react.
She dropped her gaze, feeling too uncomfortable to look the man in the face for too long. What if he was offended by her staring? She flushed faintly and, just as she was about to ask Rahmu if he wanted some tea, her eyes fell on the book that was tucked underneath his arm. "Uhm... is that my notebook?" She asked hesitantly.

Rahmu flushed a little nervously at her compliment on his father. He subconsciously rubbed his fingers together, as if there should have been something to clutch or rub between his fingers. "Uh...I think he's a lot more sophisticated than me. I have a long way to go still to be like him." He smiled a little and wasnt able to meet her eyes either, only intensifying the mutual modesty between them. "He saved me when I was just a small boy with nothing...he gave me a future. So much I could never repay him for. I'll only hope I'm at least half as great a man as he is." He gihed contentedly, and was about to ask where he might sit, when Kaoru finally noticed the notebook.
He felt so embarrassed for clutching it so tightly, he quickly held it out to her with an apologetic flush on his cheeks. "I'm sorry, yes it is. I completely forgot I was still holding it. Here you go." He set it down on the table nearest her and returned his hands to his sides, looking aside uncertainly. "I hope it's not crumbled too much. I didnt mean to hold onto it so long."

Kaoru smiled gently as the man continued to speak of his father. It was clear that they had a great relationship and that the older man meant a lot to Rahmu. It was rather touching. While Kaoru's own parents had allowed her to do what she wanted, they had never really paid much attention to her hopes and dreams. They loved her, of course, but they thought there were more important things in the world than Clothing. At least they were happy that she was able to get a good education in Tokyo.
"I think you underestimate yourself, Rahmu-san. You are very nice, and very sophisticated already." She said and smiled gently. Then she watched as the man put down her notebook, only now realizing that he probably was just as nervous as she was. She giggled softly, feeling a little bolder. "It's alright. It was silly of me to forget it in the first place. Thank you for bringing it." Her eyes twinkled slightly and she once again leaned up to place a small peck on Rahmu's cheek.
"So, what did you want for dinner?"
