The bells chimed across the campus. The day was well past afternoon, but the campus was still busy. Night class students were just arriving, some were going to dinner, others leaving to head home. Those who lived in the dorms played in the courtyard, or spent time in the computer labs or gym.
The University was a large one, and the most popular in the state, as well as others. It was a good school, with a huge selection of classes and major's to choose from. Many who graduated from here went on to become famous, in one way or another.
But what it was most famous for was it's music program. If you graduated with a Music degree from this University, you were set for life. No matter where you went, with this place on your resume, you would be hired. The Music department was huge, and the classes, while vast, were not simple. You were there to be made into one of the best musicians in the world, whether for a rock band or an orchestra, here you either made it or failed hard.
One such student left the main music building, carefully moving down the steps. Shin stopped, taking a moment to breath at the bottom of the steps. He set the huge cello case he was carrying down, panting softly a moment. He wished it had it's strap still, it was so much easier to carry when it was attached to his back. Adjusting his backpack and then fixing his sweater, he bent and picked the case up again, beginning the walk back across the campus. He had to carry this all the way home, but he was determined.

(uh, sorry for the long post, but I needed to get this part of Yuki's story over with ^^; And this was the perfect time to do it XD)
Yuki followed the tall Korean man silently along the path. He wasn't quite sure what to think. ChangMin had been gone for months already, but for some reason Yuki thought that he'd always have JoungYou... He never once stopped to think that the other man might have a life of his own. How could he be so stupid?
Yuki sighed heavily and looked up at his companion. JoungYou was being awfully quiet, letting the Art Teacher deal with this new information himself. Oh, how he wished he would say something! But that wasn't going to happen... JoungYou had loved him once, but now he had a family to take care of. A fiancé and an adopted daughter. His life did not revolve around helping Yuki anymore...
"So is this the last time I get to see you?" Yuki said finally, coming to a full stop in front of the building that JoungYou worked in. His eyes stung, but strangely he wasn't crying. Perhaps he had used up all of his tears when ChangMin disappeared.
"You know you can come visit us anytime, Yu-chan. I'll even pay for your tickets." JoungYou replied, smiling softly and and all Yuki could do was smile back. Despite his own selfish wishes to keep the korean man in Japan, he was glad to see that he was finally happy.
"I will come, you can count on it." With that said, he could no longer hold himself back and threw himself in JoungYou's arms. "I'm going to miss you."
"I will miss you too, Yuki."
No more words were exchanged and Yuki eventually untangled himself from that warm embrace. He looked up at JoungYou, but neither of them could bring themselves to say Goodbye. Instead, Yuki just bit his lip and then turned around to walk away.

( Long posts are never a bad thing. <3 I love long posts. )
He had taken another moment to breath, when he noticed two people nearby. One was someone he knew, a teacher he had seen around the campus and had even talked to on occasion. The other...? Someone he didn't know. He didn't work here... even if it was a big school, Shin had made sure to see every teacher at least once, and he had a good memory.
He tried to tell himself to look away. He shouldn't be spying on JoungYou and his friend, it was rude. But he couldn't look away... and he could see their faces. They both looked sad, the one he didn't know a little more so than his teacher.
He blushed when the other hugged his teacher, immediately feeling like he was definitely intruding and quickly working to pick the cello up again. Alex had once told him people hugging in public wasn't something to be embarrassed about seeing, but Shin was easily flustered, to say the least. Blushing was something he did with hardly any reason necessary. Re-settling the cello in his arms, he turned and started walking again.
He counted twelve steps before he turned his head to look back, and nearly jumped. The other man was following him! No no, Shin, he was just walking this way. He probably didn't even see you. Looking ahead again quickly, he tried to focus on walking, his short black hair brushing his cheeks with every step.

Yuki continued to walk. One foot in front of the other, he could do this. It was difficult. All he could do was think about the time they had spent together, right after ChangMin had left. JoungYou had been there when Yuki needed him the most. The older man had loved him and cared for him when the Japanese man barely could get out of bed... And then they had both ended up in that very same bed... together. Yuki should have been happy then. He finally had the kind of man he had always wanted... Someone mature and loving who could sacrifice his own needs for someone else... But even then all Yuki could do was think of ChangMin. His stubborn attitude and childish ways... Even JoungYou knew this, he knew that Yuki's heart would never truly be his... So they went back to being friends... Now JoungYou has reconnected with his ex and they are engaged to be married...
His steps faltered and he turned around hoping and praying that the tall man would still be there where he left him... But JoungYou had already disappeared into the building.
Taking a shuddering breath, Yuki bit his lip and barely noticed as his own hands started shaking. He could do this... He just needed to focus on something else. His eyes scanned the surroundings desperatly looking for something, anything that could serve as a distraction. And there it was. Or rather, there He was. A boy, probably a student, carrying what looked like the case to a cello and struggling with the task. Determined to not think about his own problems any longer, Yuki started moving towards the boy.
"Excuse me, do you need any help with that?"

Shin jumped, almost dropping his burden. He looked at him in surprise, blinking. "A-ah... um..." Help? Yeah, well maybe, but... "Yes, well... I-I'm ok... The straps just broken... so it's hard to carry..." he said, trying not to stutter as he looked at him. This was the person his teacher had hugged.
Shin looked quite the normal Japense boy, with his short black hair and soft face. But he had large dark green eyes, the only hint that he may not be fully Japanese.
He... still looked sad. Shin looked down, stopping so the man could catch up with him, setting the case down slightly. "....I... I'm not sure how to carry it without a strap..."

Yuki smiled gently at the boy when he jumped. He must have suprised him. Adjusting his own bag on his shoulder, he continued moving until he had fully caught up with the boy and then stopped. "It might be easier if two people are carrying it." He said lightly. He had gone back into his usual teacher-mode, looking at this boy as one of his students, or something close to it at any rate. Yuki was normally very shy and stayed to himself, but as long as he thought of himself as the helpful teacher he had no problem with approaching a student that needed help.
"Where are you headed?" Still smiling, he ran a hand through his dark hair. It was still so incredibly long... Most of the time it just got in the way. But he had kept it that length, allowing it to reach down to about mid-thigh, because ChangMin had said he liked it... Then JoungYou had said the same. And who was Yuki to argue with the two men that meant the most to him?
He shook himself mentally. It was no good to think about that right now. Reaching into his bag, he pulled out a simple black ribbon and then used it to tie his long hair back at the nape of his neck. He probably should have braided it to keep it out of the way, but that took far too much time and he was intent on helping the boy right now.

"M-maybe..." he agreed, adjusting so that the other man could take a side. Cello's may be smaller than bases, but they were still heavy. And he would rather hurt himself than accidentally drop it and have it break. That would be horrifying.
He watched, a little mesmerized as the other pulled up his hair. It was beautiful and long. Shin touched his own very short locks a little self consciously, but was smiling. "You have very pretty hair," he said, having calmed down some. This person was nice.
"I'm going home, actually. I wanted to take it back with me to practice." He suddenly blushed, stuttering a little. "O-oh, I'm sorry. I'm Nara. Shin Nara," he said, bowing slightly. How rude of him. He was a little spacey, he needed to remember to do that sort of thing first.

Yuki blinked in suprise at the unexpected compliment and his cheeks flushed. "I... Thank you." He said softly. Then he smiled and returned the boy's bow. "That's alright, Nara-kun. My name is Yuki Higurashi. It'd nice to meet you." He could tell that this Shin was shy, much like himself, and he didn't want the boy to be nervous around him. It was just him, after all, and Yuki wouldn't hurt a fly.
Taking a gentle hold of 'his' side of the cello case, he looked over at the boy. "Hm, this thing weighs quite a bit doesn't it? I can see why it would be hard to carry without the strap... So, where do you live then, Nara-kun?"
(sorry for the short post, my brain is not working as it should XD)

Shin nodded slightly when he was thanked. This person, Higurashi-san, was very nice. "Y-yes, it is heavy. I live down the street a short way." He didn't live on campus, but he had made sure to get an apartment close to the school. It had taken a long time to find, but he was proud he had finally got one.
"If you have other things to do, you do not need to go out of you're way, Higurashi-san. Just helping me out of the school would be enough," he offered, not wanting to be a bother. His help now was already making walking faster between the two of them, and Shin had to admit having someone help carry the instrument made him feel much more sure he wouldn't drop it. But he hated imposing on people because he couldn't take care of himself.
