The food was disgusting. Mikail's face remained impassive as he licked the sticky residue from his fingers, tossing the paper that had wrapped the treat into a nearby trashcan. It had been to sweet after all. But Mikail's preferred tastes lay in raw foods and sharp, bitter flavors. Fruits and sweets were not on that list.
But in the end, it was a type of food. And it caused some sustenance. It served a purpose, and he would accept it for that reason alone.
Mikail startled slightly when he walked past an alley and the person standing there started coughing horribly, stepping back quickly in case the other threw up. He hadn't even gotten his shower yet, but that didn't mean he wanted vomit on his shoes. He half scowled, his still damp hair hanging in his face as he caught his footing once more.

Someone drew close just as he started to get his wind back. He would have pulled a gun on the stranger but realized he didnt carry a firearm out of courtesy to Fen. Instead, he whirled up on his feet and lurched out, taking hold of the the unfortunate man's head, his amethyst eyes glinting dangerously as he cautioned in a soft voice, "No sudden moves or I'll scramble your brains." Most werent fool enough to think he was joking. He prayed that was the case this time because he really didnt want to use his powers again so soon. Mind wipes were especially messy and took far more energy than he didnt have to waste right now. Worse if he had to fry the person's brain.
He still panted slightly, his throat feel parched and somewhat raw in a way that would make his naturally soft voice sound hoarse, thanks to using the 'Third Eye'. Being carefully not to alert the man to action, Naedri guided them around so that his back faced the cafe and the stranger's faced the other way. Not once taking his eyes off the stranger the entire time, he came to a stop and surveyed the man from head to toe, analyzing every minuscule detail about him to verify he wasnt somehow connected to their mission. Noticing something uncomfortably familiar, Naedri met the man's eyes and asked in a strained voice, "You wouldnt be familiar with the killing business, now would you?"

Mikail's eyes flared when the stranger grabbed his head, and his first reaction was to jerk away and lay him flat. But he stopped himself at the man's words, not because he was actually afraid, but because he... felt something. This person, was he human? There was a pressure in his hand that Mikail never felt when being grabbed by a normal person from the street.
So he kept himself still, a spark of intrigue lighting in his eyes. This man looked tired already, and he was threatening him? Mikail didn't see any weapons on him, or notice anything else unusual, besides that weird feeling at the person's touch.
He remained silent, his face impassive and unafraid as the man looked him over. They were very close to the same height, which was slightly surprising, since Mikail usually towered over everyone around him. He might even venture to say this person was a little taller than him, which annoyed him. Long silver hair, violet colored eyes... and looking a little worse for wear at the moment, his voice slightly grating.
His question made a smirk pull the edges of Mikail's lips. He was serious? Most people immediately assumed him to be some sort of killer or thug upon meeting, from the cold demeanor and what the called 'frightening presence'. Obviously these didn't work on this person, but Mikail wasn't really surprised. It's not like he tried to be intimidating, in the end he just didn't give a damn.
"I wouldn't? I thought I was pretty far ahead in the game." His voice was flat and cold, laced with sarcasm and mockery fueled by his mild annoyance at being pulled by his head like he was a child. His vibrant blue eyes stared back into purple, unafraid and not looking worried in the slightest. The comfortable weight of his pistol was settled on the backside of his ribs, hidden under his heavy, and damp, coat. He could draw it, he had a fast enough arm. But he let it stay, not really feeling threatened at all.
He was more... intrigued, at this point.

Naedri's eyes narrowed at the other's sarcastic reply, aware from his deductive survey that the man was armed and yet not inclined to use it. The familiar hint of intrigue in the man's eyes disturbed the psychic and with some reluctance, he released his hold on the man's head and took a couple cautionary steps back. His breathing was calming again, thankfully, though his throat still felt a little dry and he really wanted to get a drink. However, at the moment he didnt dare take his eyes off the stranger before him. Just because a killer didnt feel threatened at one moment didnt mean he wouldnt strike in the next. He should know, false security was his preferred choice of attack.
Staring at the stranger with discretely veiled amethyst eyes, he eased out a breath and said in his soothingly soft voice, "Denial is a form of confession, just so you know. I'm not one to fall to clever deceptions." He stood perfectly still watching the man, keeping his pulse and breath calm in preparation for any action that would be required. He wasnt dumb enough to give the man a reason to become a clear threat instead of just a probable one. Though part of him hoped the man's interest didnt linger as he was thoroughly against being under someone's scrutiny.
--------- (since I have two characters in different locations in this RP right now, I'll just post for both of them in one thread)
Fen had just finished informing the client of the plan and was in the process of leaving the building to meet up with Naedri, feeling confident of a mission going well. What he hadnt expected was to wander out and after exiting an alley walk right into a pair of suspicious men.
Sure, he could have done the smart thing and run without apologizing before they realized they'd been noticed as being suspicious with the hats and the gun, but something inside Fen had snapped in that moment of awareness so that he was rooted to the spot. In a desperate attempt to play things safe, he grinned in a way that made him look as dense as he seemed and let out an awkward laugh. "Oh man, I'm so sorry about that. I must have taken a wrong turn to fast back there. Bad timing and sense of direction, ya know?"
He rubbed the back of his neck in an obvious gesture of clumsiness, still smiling like an idiot. "Dont mind me sweetheart. I'll just turn right around and get lost, okay?" He cautiously started to creep backwards, hoping they didnt decide he was a hindrance and stop him, or worse. Escapes of this nature could be so very messy.

Mikail laughed shortly, pushing his wet hair form his face, a slow, deliberate move. He didn't want to make any sudden movements and have this person lash out at him. Even if he felt he could take him, it wasn't worth it to just give him an excuse to leap forward again.
"You lost me with that. I don't recall denying what I was," he said calmly, looking back at him. He had let him go, which made Mikail much more comfortable. He may have had to do something if he had kept holding onto his head like that, it was rather annoying. He wondered if this person was a killer as well, then. It was annoyingly difficult to place him, and while Mikail still wanted to get home and change, he wasn't about to just turn his back and walk away. He wasn't going to show any part of his back to this person until he was sure he wouldn't find an uncomfortable knife lodged between his shoulder blades.

Naedri's eyes shifted slightly at the man's remark, then he averted his gaze and let out a moody sigh. His eyes snapped back to look at the stranger, wondering if it would be safe to walk away knowing the man was an assassin of some sort. The fact he was no longer in the killing business wasnt something that was obvious since Naedri still had the look in his eyes of someone who could kill mercilessly, and he was sure by now the man before him knew they were similar.
Scuffing his shoe along the ground, he turned slightly, his inhuman eyes watching the man as though he could easily be prey in a heartbeat. Which of course he could, but hopefully it wouldnt happen that way. "You feign ignorance well. That's good. Otherwise what reason would I have not to put an end to the opposition?" Most assassins had moments where they would off any rivals they came across, so Naedri was using the the fact he hadnt as a subtle challenge to the man. Would he reply as confidently in his own skills by blowing Naedri off or would he take the bait and give the psychic a reason to render him unconscious? This choice would be interesting.

Mikail snorted in a sort of disdain, an eyebrow lifting at his comment. "It would be risky to try and eliminate something you know nothing about. It's safer to just let things go when there's no reason besides titles for opposition."
He watched him, making no move to attack. "We thrive on survival and taking others chances at it, after all." he glanced towards the street, then back at the tall man before him. If this person ere just human, he probably would have shot him already and been done with it. But this person was not, or at least, not a normal one.
So he would let it go. If the other person walked away, he would do the same.

Naedri stared at him with soft annoyance lightly pinched his brow. The man was being far too bold for his tastes, yet there was also something more to him Naedri hadnt quite placed. Why did he feel like he wasnt quite....human? The thought made Naedri's natural reactions towards otherworld creatures prickle.
He heaved a sigh of disgust and turned to leave, but stopped and looked back at the man with dngerous amethyst eyes. "Si vos es quis ego reputo, tunc id est vos quisnam oportere vigilo puteus qua vos insisto. I'm not the sort of person who would ignore such haughty confidence, no matter how great the risk of the unknown. Dont think I wouldnt kill you just because you're being passive right now."
